Curiosity: Amerigo Vespucci was born on July 12, 1962. During a meeting in the Mediterranean Sea, the American aircraft carrier USS Independence requested the Italian sailing vessel to identify itself. In response "Training Ship Amerigo Vespucci", the US ship replied with the historic message: "You are the most beautiful ship in the world".
