For U.S. citizens:
Passports or military ID cards
Certified copies of birth certificates
Documents proving divorce or a death certificate of former spouse(s) (if relevant)
“Atto notorio” declarations affirmed by four witnesses in front of an Italian consular official, verifying that there are no legal barriers under U.S. law
A sworn statement by both parties indicating that there are no hindrances under U.S. law preventing the marriage from occurring.
