What Do the Cinque Terre Look Like in Winter?

The winter landscape has its own character.

On clear days, the Mediterranean can appear incredibly deep blue, while the low winter sunlight creates long shadows across the vineyards and stone terraces.

From the higher sections of the coast, visibility can sometimes extend far beyond the five villages. On exceptionally clear days, you may see islands including Gorgona, Capraia and even Corsica on the horizon.

After a storm, the coastline can be even more dramatic, with waves breaking against the cliffs and clouds moving rapidly across the Ligurian Sea.
